Hog Hunting FAQ

Success rates vary depending on skill level, weather, luck, etc. We our on our ranch every day and our staff makes sure that our bait sites are visited by hogs daily. But nobody has complete control over mother nature. We also can’t control how an individual hunter sits still, quit and observant of his/her surroundings.

We generally recommend you meet your guide between 2-3pm. Hogs are nocturnal animals and do not tend to move around during the first part of the day. We will go over exact meeting times and locations the day prior to the hunt when you call to check in 24hrs prior to your hunt by calling 803-814-4868.

Many hunters may not have their weapon available. We offer rental weapons to any of our hunters who would prefer to use our fire power. For only $50/day you will have access to our weapon with unlimited ammo. We have a variety of weapons available and we also offer a youth model 243 cal.

People come from all over the world to hunt with our outfitters. Due to differences in culture and therefore tipping standards, we charge an 20% guide fee for group hunts. Tipping your guide in addition to the guide fee is greatly appreciated. They work hard to make sure you have a great hunt!

Statewide the Florida hog season lasts all year by all legal hunting weapons on all private property. Licenses are not required to hunt hogs in the state of Florida on private property.

Our guides generally drop hog hunters off at their assigned stand or blind, but they generally leave after baiting your site. Your guide will make sure you have his contact information (phone number, walkie talkie radio channel, etc) in order for you to inform him of taking a shot or wanting to be picked up. You can also have your guide sit with you during your hunt if that is what you prefer. Your safety and success is our top priority. If you do not contact your guide beforehand, you will be picked up shortly after sunset.

Other hunters will not be an issue on our hunting grounds as we literally have thousands of acres and plenty of staff to keep you and your hunting party separate from other hunters.

Our seasoned guides and hunting grounds are all you will need in order for us to be confident you will have the hunt of a lifetime. We are here all year scouting and baiting various hotspots on our land. Our hard work pays off when our clients reach their spots and harvest their animals within the first day or two. Our guides are the best in the industry and they go the extra mile in their dedication to your safety and success in the wild.

We want you to be able to hunt the days you prefer, so we recommend booking your hunt as far in advance as possible to ensure we have an opening for you and your party. In order to keep our record of extremely high success rates, we only take a limited number of hunters on our ranch each week.

The hunting grounds at Alligator Alley Outfitters are privately owned and there are no other outfitters hunting our land. We are proud of the fact that we have the largest fair chase game ranch in Florida.

You will want to bring along a large cooler in order to store your meat. You should also be prepared for various weather conditions, usually between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit. Wild hogs do not have the best vision but we still recommend you wear lightweight camouflage clothes and you will probably want to bring a jacket for when it cools down in the afternoon. We also recommend bringing a Thermacell™ to avoid mosquitoes.

We have a family friendly operation and we take a lot of pride in the fact that our hunters can bring their children with them on blind hunts. Florida does not have an age limit for hunting on private land, so as long as minor children are accompanied with an adult we welcome them on every hunt.

Securely pay for your hunt on our online booking forms by using your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. We require a small deposit, and the remaining balance is due in cash only upon arrival.

We have various hunting styles at Alligator Alley Outfitters. We do not practice canned hunts or chasing game in vehicles or trying to contain them in small enclosures. Our hunters sit in strategically placed blinds and stands with electronic feeders. Or you may experience a spot and stalk hunt along with your guide. Many hunters prefer to run dogs, or even go on a spear hunt. Bow hunting is also a very popular option on our ranch.

For archery hunters we have a 3D target to practice your bow & arrow before your hunt. We offer a 100yd range for firearms as well.

The nearest airport to the ranch is the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Conveniently located just 40 minutes from the grounds, and not far from Fort Meyers, we welcome travelers from all over and can arrange to pick you up with prior notice.

Once you bag your game you can rest assured that we can take care of the messy part for you for a small fee. We only charge $35-85 to skin and quarter a trophy hog. We can also transport your kill to the local butcher for processing. Their fees vary. All buffalo are skinned and processed by our butcher only. Mounting also requires an additional $100 cape fee but if you use our taxidermist we will waive that charge. We will also give you our discount for our taxidermist.

Our massive hunting grounds is made up of large properties consisting of thousands of acres of privately owned property. Altogether, our hunters enjoy the fact that we have 25,000 acres of wild Florida Hog hunting land covered in game.

We have large ladder stands that can hold at least two adults. Some of our stands even hold up to five adults. We have plenty of large ground blinds that can hold three people and these are great for bow or crossbow hunting. Out strategic planning behind our blinds means you can expect to be within twenty yards from an electronic feeder. This keeps game coming throughout the day and will keep you on your toes as the day goes on.

There are no surprises with us. There are no hidden costs. Please remember to also tip your guides (20% is customary).

All deposits are non-refundable. You may transfer your deposit to someone taking your spot, but we are not able to transfer to someone else who is in your party during your scheduled hunt.

Buffalo Hunting FAQ

In Florida, Asian water buffalo and bison are not considered game animals and therefor they may be hunted throughout the entire year without restriction and there is no license needed on private lands.

Water buffalo hunting can be very dangerous if not done with the safety of an experienced guide. Our seasoned guides will be with you at all times to ensure your safety. The water buffalo on our ranch are highly aggressive and territorial animals, can weigh in excess of 2,500lbs, and are even more menacing than the famous Cape Buffalo of Africa.

Hunting water buffalo on our game farm can be done with bow and arrow, crossbow, and all rifles that are at least a 30 cal. Blind hunts and spot and stalk are the traditional ways our guests have hunted water buffalo with us in the past.

Killing a water buffalo requires a large caliber rifle with bonded bullets that are designed for large, dangerous animals like the water buffalo. We recommend wearing full camoflauge. It is important to remember that both the American Plains buffalo and Asiatic water buffalo have great vision and are very smart animals. This can make it a real challenge to hunt these animals by Spot & Stalk. It is also important to remember that buffalo can become even more aggressive when wounded so we always have two back up guides with you in order to ensure you will be safe on your hunt. We even have our premium butcher meet us in the field to pick up your buffalo. Butchering and shipping are also done at discounted rates.
